Summer Camp & Clinic Coaches

Ryan Booher

Ryan Booher is the head coach for the men's and women's volleyball teams at King University in Bristol, TN.   He has led King's men's program since 2010 and the women's program since 2019.  During his time at King University, Coach Booher has earned three Coach of the Year awards, his men's teams have earned 3 conference championships and a tournament championship, and his women's teams have earned both a conference championship and tournament championship.  While at King University he has coached two AVCA All Americans (1-men, 1-women), and his teams have earned four AVCA All Academic Awards.  

Low Country Volleyball Club has partnered with Coach Booher since 2012 to bring high intensity summer camps to the lowcountry.

 

 

Whitney Armistead

Whitney Armistead grew up in Estes Park, Colorado and began playing volleyball in 5th grade.  She played for NORCO Volleyball Club while in high school and played collegiate volleyball  at Johnson & Wales University and CSU.  She has coached all levels from 3rd graders to National level 18’s including club, high school, boys indoor, and beach.  Prior to joining Low Country in 2022, Whitney served as Director of Coaching at Vail Volleyball Club in Colorado.  

Katie Cox, Administrator and Skills Academy Director

Katie Cox has served as a LCVC Coach since 2010. She joined the board in 2011, served as director from 2012-2013, and co-director since 2018. Katie brings a wealth of volleyball experience and achievement to our club. She served as a high school coach from 2005-2012, and earned South Carolina AAAA, Region 8 Coach of the Year honors in 2007 while at Battery Creek. She also founded Beaufort Volleyball Club in 2007.

In 2015-16, Katie was the first head coach of the new Low Country VC Developmental Academy for younger players who are new to the game.

As a player, Katie earned a scholarship to The Citadel and was a 4-year letterman, serving as team captain for 2 years. She holds the school records for number of assists in a single season and number of assists in a single set.

Katie graduated with a B.S. degree from The Citadel and went on to earn a M. Ed. from the University of South Carolina and a M. Ed. from Cambridge College.  She currently works as Career Development Facilitator at Bluffton High School.

Katie and her husband Chad have two children, Brock and Bailey.

Tina Franklin, LCVC Master Coach

Tina Franklin has been a LCVC coach since 2010, and joined the Board of Directors in 2014. In 2016 she took her Low Country 17 Open team to the Junior National Championships.  In 2015 she completed her first year as Bluffton High School Varsity Head Coach, and Tina has coached at Bluffton and Hilton Head High Schools and started the volleyball program at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School. She also conducts clinics for younger players throughout the year to expose elementary students to the game.

Tina started playing volleyball in high school at Pennridge High School in Perkasie, PA. Her playing career continued at Gwynedd Mercy College. Tina’s coaching career began during college when she coached boys’ volleyball at Pennridge during the off season. She enjoyed many summer days playing beach volleyball in Ocean City, NJ on 6th Street, as well as playing in both indoor and outdoor coed leagues.

Tina teaches high school math and serves as the Math Department Chairperson for Bluffton High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Gwynedd Mercy College and a master’s degree in technology in education from Leslie University. She has been married to Jeff for 24 years, and they have three children, all of whom have played club volleyball.
